Huawei has officially introduced the Nova 16 Pro and Nova 16 Ultra smartphones in China. The new devices arrive as the premium models in the Nova 16 series and bring flagship-style features, including Huawei’s Kirin 9010S chipset, large 7,000mAh batteries, high-resolution cameras, and advanced OLED displays.
Both smartphones feature a 6.84-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2856 × 1320 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The screens also support high-frequency PWM dimming and are protected by Huawei’s Kunlun Glass for improved durability.
The Nova 16 Pro and Nova 16 Ultra are powered by the Kirin 9010S processor and come with 12GB RAM as standard. Storage options go up to 1TB, allowing users to store large amounts of photos, videos, and apps. Both devices run HarmonyOS 6.1 and include several AI-powered software features.
For photography, Huawei has equipped the phones with a powerful camera setup led by a 200-megapixel primary sensor. The camera system is accompanied by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front, users get a 50-megapixel selfie camera designed for high-quality photos and video calls.
One of the biggest highlights of the new phones is the massive 7,000mAh battery. Both models support 100W wired fast charging, while the Nova 16 Ultra also adds 50W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging support. Despite the large battery, Huawei has maintained a relatively slim design.
The Nova 16 Pro comes with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. Meanwhile, the Nova 16 Ultra offers stronger protection with IP68 and IP69 ratings, making it more resistant to water and harsh environments. The Ultra model also includes premium features such as satellite communication support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and an aluminum alloy frame.
